I KNOW this is stupid, but I like to upgrade/fix things. Sooo,I formatted an ancient Pentium 4 (HT 3ghz) / ASUS P4S800D-X which has a Geforce FX 5500 on its AGP port. Fully clean install with Windows 7 x86, and everything is perfect and stable (had used MEMTEST and PRIME95 for HOURS).BUT, when I installed the latest Forceware driver which is known to recognize FX5500 (96.85 for Vista x86), my system kept freezing whenever I try to MOVE/DRAG a window. Sometimes it freezes if I try to expand a listbox or scroll something. Have also tried some older forceware versions, with no luck.I'm completely sure the problem lies with the GPU, because it won't never ever freeze with Windows' default 'Standard VGA Display' driver, but I wouldn't like to use that because of the lack of opengl support.I tried to use RivaTuner to disable 'fast writes' but I think it was already disabled.!?

It didn't make any difference. AIDA64 says 'bus mastering' and 'side band addressing' are enabled. Maybe disabling some of these 'accelerations' it could get more stable? This 'change settings' is greyed out but I managed to modify it via registry setting to NO acceleration at all, but it still freezes on every dragging/scrolling.Any thoughts?
